Located 16km west of Arthur's Pass in the village of Otira on Hwy 73.
Otira is a tiny hamlet nestled in the mountains of Arthurs Pass National Park. The hotel was built in the 1860's as a coach stop and the village dates from 1923 when the Otira railway tunnel was opened. In its heyday, Otira was home to some six hundred workers and their families before it was sold in 1989 to private enterprise. The hotel has been restored to its former 1920's glory, with rooms furnished with items of the era.
